The X Factor Australia Live Show - Dami Im Rocks The Stage With The Foo Fighters Best Of You

The theme of tonight’s live show for The X Factor Australia is rock songs – one of the most challenging of the live categories for the performers.
With so many of the contestants outside of their comfort zone in this genre, tonight’s episode is sure to feature some surprises and some massive failures.
Opening the show is standout favourite Dami Im, taking on the Foo Fighters screamer Best of You.
After nailing pop week last week Dami proves just how incredible of an artist she is with an absolutely flawless performance of the track!
With yet another standing ovation from the judges – RedFoo praised her energy and rock vibe, while Ronan called it an honour to work on a show alongside such a huge star in the making.

Next to take the stage is hip hop group Third D3gree taking on the Red Hot Chili Peppers By The Way – and we have to say this is a genius song choice on Nat’s behalf (finally!).
The judges all agree, with RedFoo calling the performance “dynamic” and Dannii calling it their best yet adding that the song choice really played to all of their strengths.
Hoping to win Ronan back onto their side RedFoo has finally chosen a stripped back song for Joelle to sing in the form of Concrete Blonde’s Joey.
Ronan called it “bloody good” adding that she was back in the form that she was when they sent her through to bootcamp – while Nat added that it was the best she had seen Joelle perform on the live stage.
Then it was onto a very anxious Omar Dean to perform his rendition of Journey’s Any Way You Want It – with the singer clearly struggling with the genre.
Dannii came out blazing against Ronan saying it was a poor song choice followed with some terrible execution, with Omar’s unique falsetto letting him down this time around.
Another act to really struggle with this week’s genre is ethereal songstress Jiordan Tolli, who performs an energetic rendition of Billy Idol’s Dancing With Myself.
Ronan said that it didn’t work for him despite her best efforts- while Nat Bass said that out of all the contestants, this week’s challenge had really exposed Jiordan.
Jai Waetford was next to take the stage with his interpretation of Train’s runaway hit Drops Of Jupiter – with the teen once again delivering a solid performance.
Nat said it was her favourite performance of his so far, but chastised Ronan for dressing Jai like a grandpa! RedFoo added that vocally Jai is “kicking booty up on that stage”.
Swedish brothers JTR were another big concern for rock week – but it seemed that the boys fitted pretty easily into their rock star roles for their rendition of Fall Out Boy’s Thanks fr th Mmrs.
Their performance divided the judging panel with Dannii saying that the track should be their song it was that good, while RedFoo argued that the pyrotechnics onstage masked the fact that it was a weak performance.

The show closed on Taylor Henderson singing an Australia classic in Cold Chisel’s Choir Girl – with the singer/songwriter obviously in his element.
Dannii said he was a new man, while RedFoo called it his best vocal performance on the lives. Though he did add that Taylor needs to work on connecting with the audience, saying, “It’s hard to connect to a bro when his eyes is closed.”
